Exploring an orchard to pick apples can be an enjoyable experience, but have you thought about growing your own apple trees? Numerous Minnesota-hardy varieties are available that can flourish in most residential backyards. This introductory class will provide you with the fundamental knowledge necessary for growing apples at home or enhancing the care of your existing trees. You will learn about site selection, appropriate Minnesota varieties, pollination methods, rootstock choices, planting techniques, pruning strategies, and both organic and conventional methods for managing diseases and pests, along with effective harvesting practices.
