Taxes in Retirement

Your tax rate in retirement can change from year to year. It depends on when and how you use different income sources. Without a plan, you may pay more in taxes than necessary. This class explains how smart tax planning can help you manage taxes throughout retirement, understand how they affect Social Security and Medicare, and decide when to use different accounts to help lower your tax bill.

You’ll learn how smart tax planning can improve your retirement, how to avoid the Social Security “tax trap,” and how withdrawing assets in the wrong order can raise Medicare premiums. You’ll also explore the four stages of retirement, the key tax decisions in each, and common mistakes to avoid with investments, health care, and estate planning.
