T-Shirt Quilt

Are you celebrating a graduation or another special milestone? Make it memorable by creating a cherished 72" x 90" T‑shirt quilt — made by you. Join Sandra as she guides you through the basics of turning T‑shirts into a quilt you’ll treasure. You’ll learn how to stabilize shirts, cut and sew blocks, and attach the batting and backing. Basic sewing skills are required, and expect to complete some work outside of class. Create a meaningful keepsake and learn skills you can use again and again. A $15 supply fee is included in the class fee.

Please bring the following supplies:
Session 1:

• 35–40 washed T‑shirts
• Rotary cutter and mat (preferred) or fabric scissors
Session 2:

• Sewing machine
• Thread, pins, fabric scissors
Session 3:

• Fabric for the quilt backing
• Batting (type and amount will be discussed in the first class)

Sandra Bengtson is the owner of Avant Garb Fashions. She created her business, in part, because she believes that knowing how to sew is an important life skill that, if nourished, becomes a hobby, craft, and a great way to express creativity. Sandra loves the ability to create and share with others the one-of-a-kind, handmade items that reflect ones personal style. After working almost 30 years in Community Education, she now offers beginner and advanced-beginner sewing classes that provide a warm, inclusive classroom environment with fun, laughter, and perhaps even new friendships.
