Teen Driver's Education

Osseo Area Schools and the Community Engagement Department partner with Safeway Driving School to offer Minnesota state‑approved teen driver education.

Safeway is the largest driving school in Minnesota, serving more than 9,000 teens each year. The school holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and is a BBB Accredited Business. All Safeway instructors are background‑checked through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Classroom Instruction
Open to students age 14½ and older. Classroom training includes 10 three‑hour lessons (30 total hours). Lessons may be taken in any order. Missed lessons must be made up by registering for the same lesson online. Students arriving more than five minutes late will not be allowed to attend that day’s class, per Minnesota state requirements.

Behind‑the‑Wheel Training
Includes three private two‑hour driving lessons (6 total hours). Lessons are scheduled directly with Safeway. Pick‑up and drop‑off are available at home, school, or work. Instruction takes place in a marked Safeway vehicle.

Program Cost and Payment Options
The total program cost is $440, which includes classroom instruction, behind‑the‑wheel training, and all course materials.
You may either:
• Pay the full $450 upfront, or
• Pay $290 at registration, with $80 due at the first behind‑the‑wheel lesson and $80 due at the second behind‑the‑wheel lesson
