BIPOC Parenting (Birth to Five years old) This class is for parents and caregivers who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Color or are raising children who do. Join a welcoming space to connect, reflect and grow with other families. Come build community through shared experiences, play and conversation. For the 26.27 school year, Osseo ECFE is excited to have received a grant from the Northwest Family Resource Collaborative, to focus on supporting family wellness. As part of this grant, we will be able to contract with some local licensed practitioners to bring some wellness practices and discussions into our class. For the BIPOC class, we are excited to collaborate with the local organization, Reviving Roots for 9 weeks of our semester, as well as an ongoing collaboration with St. David’s Developmental and Therapeutic Services. Session 1: Electrical Repair Basics Learn the basics of your home’s electrical system in this hands-on class. You’ll go over different types of wires, wire sizes (called “gauges”), and how to use them safely. The instructor will show you how to: Strip wire correctly Attach wires to outlets, switches, and light fixtures Use basic testing tools Please bring straight and Phillips screwdrivers, long-nose pliers, and wire strippers if you have them. Session 2: Advanced Electrical Repair Keep building your skills in this hands-on class! You’ll learn how to safely install light switches (single-pole and 3-way), outlets, and light fixtures. You’ll even wire a light bulb and test the circuit to see how it works. We’ll talk about different types of light bulbs and how to choose the right LED bulb. You’ll also learn about installing ceiling fans and other fixtures. Please bring your own wire stripper, straight and Phillips screwdrivers, and long-nose pliers if you have them.

Want to feel more confident handling small plumbing repairs at home? In this class, you’ll learn how your home’s plumbing system works and get hands-on practice with basic repairs. You’ll: Learn about different types of plastic and metal pipes Take apart and fix different kinds of faucets Replace a pop-up drain assembly Talk about how toilets work inside This class is great for beginners who want to save money and feel more comfortable doing simple plumbing jobs.

This engaging presentation blends insight, inspiration, and actionable practices that can be applied immediately.

Start sewing with a fun, hands-on class designed just for beginners. No experience needed. Learn basic sewing skills in a supportive, easy-to-follow setting where you will get comfortable using a sewing machine, try simple hand stitches and follow essential safety steps. You will build focus, patience and hand-eye coordination while picking up useful skills like sewing on a button or fixing a seam. Create a colorful fall scene using the popular acrylic pour painting technique. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to mix acrylic paints to a fluid consistency and use a directed pour method—no brushes needed. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll pour and guide the paint to create a vibrant image of fall birch trees. Each participant will receive an 8 x 10-inch canvas and all necessary supplies to complete their artwork. Please bring a box or tray to safely transport your finished piece home. No painting experience required—just come ready to pour, create and enjoy the process.
