This beginner sewing class is designed for students with no previous sewing experience. If you have ever wanted to learn how to sew on a button, fix a torn seam, or start sewing as a hobby, this class is a great place to begin. Students will learn basic hand-sewing and sewing machine skills while using common sewing tools. Instruction includes sewing safety, simple hand-sewing stitches, and introductory sewing machine techniques. As students practice, they will build fine motor skills, focus, patience, and hand-eye coordination. Participants will also complete a beginner-level reversible full apron project and gain confidence using their new sewing skills. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to mix acrylic paints to a fluid consistency and use a directed pour method—no brushes needed. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll pour and guide the paint to create a vibrant image of fall birch trees. Each participant will receive an 8 x 10-inch canvas and all necessary supplies to complete their artwork. Please bring a box or tray to safely transport your finished piece home. A creative and hands-on experience learning about and building your own terrarium. Terrariums are miniature ecosystems. The plants and organisms work together to sustain life, making terrariums low maintenance (and easy to customize)! This event is great for friends and neighbors young and old! If you are a nature-lover and want to look at something beautiful and natural all year round, this is a class for you. All supplies and materials are included. You’ll be making terrariums which include a substrate mix (specialty soil mix) so be prepared to get your hands dirty! Wear comfortable clothes and an outfit that you are okay getting a little dirty (just in case).

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute (approved by the American Pediatrics Association) gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. You will learn the responsibilities of being a prepared, safe, responsible and professional babysitter. Topics include supervision, behavior guidance, proper feeding and diapering techniques, personal safety, basic first aid, medical emergencies, and fire safety. Dolls, bottles and diaper supplies will be provided at class for hands-on participation.
