NewOnline: Self-Paced Teen Driver's EducationTeen Driver's EducationThis is an online Driver's Education class and will be completed through Safeway Driving School's online learning portal. Experience the flexibility of learning at your own pace with Safeway Driving School's state-approved Self-Paced Online Driver's Education program. Students receive the same comprehensive 30-hour curriculum as a traditional classroom course while enjoying the convenience of completing coursework on their own schedule. After registering through ARUX/Osseo Area Schools Community Education, Safeway Driving School will email the student and parent/guardian a portal link, login credentials, and course instructions within 24 to 48 business hours. To avoid delays, please ensure that both the student's and parent/guardian's email addresses are included during registration and monitored regularly. Be sure to check spam or junk folders if you do not receive your login information. Students will need access to an internet-connected device, such as a laptop, Chromebook, or iPad, to complete the course. Program Details Flexible Online Learning Complete the state-required 30-hour curriculum at your own pace. Access coursework 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any location with internet access. Complete up to 3 hours of coursework per day. Finish the course in as little as 10 days or take up to the full 6-month enrollment period. Lessons must be completed in sequence. Course Features Interactive lessons featuring short video lectures, quizzes, games, animations, and real-world driving scenarios. Quizzes must be successfully completed before advancing to the next lesson. Random PIN prompts help verify student participation and progress. User-friendly online learning portal. 24/7 technical support. Curriculum support by phone and chat Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Optional 6-month enrollment extension available for a $50 fee. Included Behind-the-Wheel Training Behind-the-wheel instruction consists of three private two-hour lessons. Students have one year from their final classroom completion date or their 15th birthday, whichever occurs later, to complete behind-the-wheel training. Transfer Policy Students transferring from an in-person class to the self-paced online course must begin again at Lesson 1. Students enrolled in the self-paced online course may transfer to an in-person class at any time, and completed progress will transfer. Refund Policy Fees are refundable or transferable if the course has not been started. Once the student clicks "Start Course," the classroom portion of the fee becomes non-refundable. Registration Information When creating an ARUX/Osseo Area Schools Community Education account: Create or log in to your account. Enter your information and submit. Select the Family tab and choose Add Relationship. Select Child from the relationship dropdown menu. Enter your child's information. About Safeway Driving School Safeway Driving School was selected by Osseo Area Schools and Community Education to provide teen driver's education services. NewOnline: Teen Driver's EducationTeen Driver's EducationThis is an ONLINE INSTRUCTION class and will be held via Zoom. Your class link and meeting information will be emailed to you. Please make sure you AND your student's email are on file. District 279 does not support the Zoom Application so you will need to use another device for Driver's Education such as a phone, iPad or a laptop. Safeway Driving School was selected by Osseo Area Schools and the Community Engagement department to provide teen driver's education. Safeway is the largest driving school in MN, instructing over 9,000 teens this year alone. It has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and is a BBB Accredited Business. Safeway has 90 experienced instructors background checked by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. When creating your account online, please follow the steps below: 1. Enter in your information and submit. 2. Click the family tab and choose to add a relationship. 3. Click child in the drop down menu (as how they are related to you). 4. Add your child's information (as much information as possible so we can support their experience). 5. Search for your Safeway course and register. 6. You can call, stop by the office or go online to register. If you have questions, call Community Education at 763-391-7242. Classroom training can be taken by students who are 14-1/2 years or older and consists of 10 three-hour lessons. Each lesson is independent and can be taken in any order. If a lesson is missed, the student can sign up for make-up lesson on their Safeway account at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. If you miss a lesson, you need to make up the exact lesson you miss. Lesson calendars are all available on Safeway's website at www.safewaydrivingschool.com. Behind-the-wheel training consists of 3 two-hour private lessons that can be scheduled online or by calling Safeway at 651-351-9150. Pick-up and drop-off is at home, school or work. Training is done in a white late-model car with Safeway's "Student Driver" graphics. You may either pay the full $450 upfront or you can pay $290 at registration with $80 due at your 1st behind-the-wheel and $80 at the 2nd behind-the-wheel. Program includes classroom and behind-the-wheel lessons and all class materials and they will need to be picked up PRIOR to class at the Educational Service Center (11200 93rd Ave N, Maple Grove 55369) or your student's high school main office. Classroom instruction is 30 hours and behind-the-wheel training is 6 hours. If your child is more than 5 minutes late to login, they will not be allowed to participate in that day's lesson.
