Online: Writing for Children - A Beginner's Guide

Do you have a story idea for children or teens? This class will introduce you to the exciting world of children's and young adult (YA) literature and help you learn how to write for young readers.

Participants will explore age-appropriate storytelling techniques, create memorable characters, and learn what makes stories engaging for different age groups. The class will also cover current trends in children's and YA publishing, tips for developing strong story ideas, and strategies for writing stories that connect with young audiences.

In addition, participants will learn about submitting their work to children's magazines and book publishers, including ways to present manuscripts professionally and improve their chances of getting noticed.

Whether you're interested in writing picture books, chapter books, middle grade fiction, or young adult novels, this class will provide the tools and guidance to help you bring your stories to life and begin your writing journey.

Instructor LeeAnne Krusemark is a former journalist, author, editor, and publishing professor who has taught at colleges and universities across the country, including Harvard Adult Education.
